Job Description

The Associate Pastor of Worship & Ministry role is a full-time position under the direct supervision of the Lead Pastor. This position includes working under the authority of the Pastoral Team to develop and implement a philosophy of worship in keeping with the vision and mission of Southridge Baptist Church.

The corporate worship gathering at Southridge Baptist Church is vital in our disciple-making process as Southridge seeks to be obedient to the Great Commission. Selecting songs, leading the worship team, and leading our congregation in worship is pastoral work. The corporate gathering at Southridge includes instruction of the flock on what it means to worship God passionately.  Therefore, the Associate Pastor of Worship & Ministry, as the lead worshiper, will be expected to lead our church to worship and to “sing the Word”, that is we will feature music and sing songs profoundly rooted in the truth of scripture highlighting God’s grand plan of redemption: The Gospel of Jesus Christ. 

Character and Criteria:  

1. Be a growing and maturing disciple of Jesus, practicing spiritual disciplines of personal Bible study, prayer, stewardship of time and money, sabbath, Spirit-filled living, worship (both private and public), and regular witnessing about Christ to people.   
2. Meet the qualifications for Pastors/Elders/Overseers as outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9. 

 Duties and Responsibilities: 

1. Serve on the Pastoral Team with the other Pastors to feed, lead, know, and protect the flock of God entrusted to us at Southridge. 
2. Support and actively participate in the total church life and cooperate with all church leaders in accomplishing the mission of the church. 
3. Fulfill other pastoral duties, including pastoral visits, baptisms, preaching, and leading small classes.
4. Take the lead for Community Groups and Grow Classes: establishing groups, training leaders, encouraging engagement, etc.   
5. Assist the Lead Pastor in the vision and direction of Southridge Baptist Church. 
6. Share pastors’ responsibility of providing spiritual guidance for the church by engaging with members and attenders for the purposes of encouraging them in their walks with the Lord. 
7. Serve on the Leadership Council as well as on other teams and committees as coordinated with the Lead Pastor.     
8. Implement the philosophy of worship by leading the congregation, vocalists, and instrumentalists in the worship service toward passionate worship of our God. This includes selection of worship songs, order of services, and other elements of the corporate worship gathering. 
9. Seek to develop vocal and instrumental talent of individuals as a means of equipping the church to grow as worshippers.   
10. Be responsible for the upkeep of all church-owned musical instruments as well as oversee software necessary for the worship ministry. 
11. Coordinate the vocal team, instrumentalists, and volunteers necessary for gathered worship each Sunday. 
12. Provide technical oversight and support of computer/multimedia equipment necessary for worship services.   
13. Provide musical, worship, and technical oversight at other events as needed (weddings, funerals, and special events). 
14. Work with the appropriate church teams and committees to prepare and manage an annual budget for the worship ministry to be presented to the Finance Committee.
