Northwest Baptist Church in Peoria, Illinois, is prayerfully starting its search for a full-time senior pastor. The former pastor retired because of health reasons.
This independent Baptist church is considered small but they have many wonderful qualities. They are very generous in their financial gifts and faithfully support several local ministries. They are traditional in worship but are open to new ideas. This is a unified and loving congregation whose members feel like family and are truly valued by the leadership team and each other.
This church is located in a residential area and is known for preaching the Word of God and being devoted to prayer. During Sunday school and church, time is set aside to hear prayer requests followed by prayer. The congregation meets Wednesday night for prayer and Bible Study. A weekly email is sent which includes prayer requests for healings, salvations, special needs and praise reports.
Last year the church started a web-based prayer ministry to connect with the needs of the community. Twenty-one different prayer campaigns were launched to those living within a 15-mile radius of the church. This outreach has been very successful reaching 126,000 people and well over 1,000 have responded with a prayer request. Hundreds of these respondents are prayed for every day and they communicate daily with the prayer team through messenger.
This is a great opportunity for a pastor to cultivate a strong sense of community and family with his congregation. This pastor can focus on the core principles of preaching the Word, prayer, discipleship and outreach.
