First Baptist Church of Marion, IL, seeks a dedicated and compassionate Senior Pastor to lead and shepherd our rural congregation. The Senior Pastor will preach and teach the Word of God, provide spiritual guidance, and lead the church in fulfilling its mission and vision. The ideal candidate will have a heart for rural ministry, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to the principles and practices of the Southern Baptist Convention. We are a vibrant church. Active Music, Youth, Children, Senior Adult and Care Ministries. We strive to help others live a life dedicated to Jesus Christ. We are a conservative Southern Baptist Church.
Our church services reach out to over a 1,000 each Sunday. We are on Facebook, Youtube and Television. Our ministry reaches over a tri-state area. Firstbaptistmarionil is our youtube channel.
Responsibilities:
- Preaching and Teaching:
- Prepare and deliver biblically sound, relevant, and engaging sermons.
- Lead regular worship services, including Sunday mornings, Sunday evenings, and midweek
- Teach Bible studies and lead small group discussions as needed.
- Provide spiritual counseling and support to congregation members.
- Visit and pray with the sick, homebound, and those in crisis.
- Officiate weddings, funerals, baptisms, and other church ceremonies.
- Work with church staff, deacons, and ministry leaders to develop and implement the
Church’s vision and goals.
- Encourage and equip members for service and leadership within the church.
- Outreach and Community Involvement:
- Promote and participate in community outreach and evangelism efforts.
- Build relationships within the local community to foster a positive church presence.
- Support and participate in associational, state, and SBC events and initiatives.
Qualifications:
- A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a vital, growing personal relationship with Him.- Ordained by an SBC church and in good standing with the SBC.
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Biblical Studies, Theology, or a related fields
- Previous pastoral experience required.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A heart for rural ministry and a calling to serve a rural congregation.
- Agreement with the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.
