Lead Pastor

First Baptist Church of Machesney Park is a multi-generational, friendly, and welcoming church committed to serving God and loving our neighbors. We are seeking a pastor that can develop a vision for our church and guide us through biblical preaching and teaching. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a deep commitment to discipleship and ministry. 

Lead Pastor Key Responsibilities:

• Provide spiritual leadership and pastoral care to the congregation, including visiting the sick, counseling those in need, and offering support during times of crisis.
• Plan and lead weekly worship services by collaborating with worship team and delivering biblically-based sermons.
• Facilitate and encourage spiritual growth and discipleship.
• Work with church leadership to establish and execute a vision and strategic plan for the church’s growth and leadership development.
• Engage and build relationships within the local community and participate in outreach and mission activities. 
• Oversee the administration and management of church operations.
• Mentor, supervise, and support church staff and volunteers.
• Perform other pastoral duties, including weddings, funerals, baptisms, and dedications, as required.

Lead Pastor Qualifications:

• A deep commitment to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. 
• Master of Divinity degree from a Southern Baptist seminary or similar biblically-based seminary preferred. 
• Licensed and ordained by a Southern Baptist Church. 
• A minimum of 5 years of pastoral experience in a similar role, with a proven track record of effective leadership, ministry development, and community outreach.
• Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and events. 
• A deep understanding of and commitment to the Bible, Christian theology, and the Baptist Faith and Message 2000. 
• A heart for pastoral care, compassionate and supportive to congregation members.
