Student/Worship Pastor

Grace Southern Baptist Church (GSBC) of Virden, IL is seeking a Worship and Student minister to lead our Sunday morning congregational worship and to lead the discipleship and development of our student ministry grades 6 through 12. 

The mission of GSBC is to make disciples who glorify God and serve Him. As such, GSBC believes that the discipleship of our youth is a sacred stewardship of our church.

GSBC is a Southern Baptist Church in the Springfield and greater St. Louis area. We are located in a rural community in the far north of Macoupin County about 30 minutes south of Springfield, IL and 1½ hours from St. Louis, MO. Our church is located in the city of Virden, population about 3,400. The local high school, North Mac, has about 430 students. Grace Youth has seen large numbers and student development in the recent past, but due to Covid and loss of volunteers, these numbers are currently down.

Our Sunday morning worship is a blended worship with mostly contemporary songs and modern hymns. We are needing a leader who can not only perform well, but who can weekly help focus our hearts to God and encourge us in our worship and devotion to him.

Qualifications

• Must have a firm foundation upon the Word of God  
• Must live a life that is exemplary and above reproach
• Devotional life must continually and actively be characterized by growth, repentance, sanctification
• Must be in agreement with the doctrines of GSBC
• Must be willing to follow the decisions of the church as God leads the body by His Spirit
• Must be a regular participant in fellowship with GSBC

Duties

• Work with Worship team to plan and lead Sunday Worship
• Disciple the students of Grace Youth
• Build solid foundations through biblical teaching
• Promote growth and authentic devotion
• Equip gospel witness to impact and serve others
• Supervise and equip any relevant leaders, teachers, or volunteers
• Develop and implement outreach strategies to North Mac students
• Plan and orchestrate youth events
• Plan and maintain the annual ministry budget
• Communicate regularly with the senior pastor
