Job Title: Pastor
Location: First Baptist Church, 601 1st Ave, Vinton, IA 52349
Job Summary: The Pastor will serve as the spiritual leader of First Baptist Church providing pastoral care, preaching, teaching, and leadership to the congregation. The Pastor will work in
collaboration with church leaders and members to fulfill the church's mission and vision.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preaching and Teaching:
- Prepare and deliver weekly sermons that are biblically sound, engaging, and relevant to the
- Lead Bible studies, prayer meetings, and other teaching sessions.
- Ensure that all teaching aligns with Baptist doctrine and our statement of faith. Must uphold the biblical
view of marriage and the sanctity of life.
- Pastoral Care:
- Provide spiritual counseling and support to individuals and families within the congregation.
- Visit and pray with the sick, homebound, and those in need of pastoral care.
- Officiate at weddings, funerals, baptisms, and other church ceremonies.
- Leadership and Administration:
- Work with church leaders to develop and implement the church's vision, goals, and strategies.
- Oversee the administration of church programs, ministries, and activities.
- Collaborate with deacons and other leaders to ensure effective governance and decision-making.
- Community Engagement:
- Foster relationships with other like-minded local churches and organizations.
- Encourage and equip the congregation to engage in outreach and evangelism.
- Personal and Professional Development:
- Maintain a strong personal devotional life, including regular prayer and Bible study.
- Pursue ongoing education and professional development opportunities.
- Model a Christ-like lifestyle and uphold high ethical and moral standards.
Qualifications:
- Ordained Baptist minister with a minimum of 1-5 years of pastoral experience.
- Prefer a graduate with a theological degree from an accredited institution. Would consider comparable qualifications or equivalent experience
- Strong knowledge of the Bible and Baptist doctrine.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to relate to and minister to the congregation.
- Demonstrated leadership and administrative abilities.
- Compassionate, patient, and approachable demeanor.
Compensation:
- Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
- Benefits may include housing allowance or parsonage, health insurance and continuing education support.
